‘Drawing Threads’, 2018
This exhibition brought together a series of strands that I had been pursuing through drawing and stitching, including my interest in textiles, lace, pattern, decoration and the home, and discourses around women’s work. A key consideration was the interrelationship of body, home and landscape. In earlier works in the 1980s and 1990s I had often superimposed place and the female body to construct autobiographical narratives, but this work offered a unified view of specific places that I inhabit and which shape my experience and perceptions.
