“The ‘Between Spaces’ exhibition, held at the Creative Hinckley Gallery, Hinckley, brought together four makers – Imogen Aust, Simon Lewis, Jill Journeaux and Judith Mottram – in order to explore the position that making and craft occupies in our culture. As the exhibition’s title suggests, the place for making is often a marginal one within western consumer society, but there seemed to be a recognition within this show that this space, squeezed though it may be, allows its practitioners to engage in a process of critical exploration of what is to be human and to forge a society with others”.
